Sbahle Mpisane Opens Up About Feeling Isolated and Neglected by Her Family
South African reality TV star Sbahle Mpisane has candidly shared her struggles with family relationships, revealing deep feelings of neglect and disconnection.
Speaking on Power Lunch with Kwena Marara Moabelo, the Kwa’MaMkhize star admitted she has no real connection with her biological mother or siblings: “I’ve never had a relationship with my biological family. In fact, I don’t know them; I just know my mother and my siblings, her two kids. With my dad’s side of the family, I know them, but I don’t have a relationship with them.”
Sbahle, the daughter of Durban businessman S’bu Mpisane and stepdaughter of business mogul Shauwn MaMkhize Mkhize, described feeling like an outsider within both her biological and stepfamilies.
This contrasts with her previous public gratitude towards MaMkhize, especially for her support during Sbahle’s recovery from her life-altering 2018 car accident. She shared that constant comparisons to Andile, MaMkhize’s biological son, have amplified her feelings of isolation, stating, “They compare me to Andile, but we would never be the same.”
In a moment of vulnerability, Sbahle expressed her belief that her absence wouldn’t be deeply felt by anyone, saying, “I would be happy to just be ashed (cremated) and not have a funeral, because there is nobody who would cry saying they’ll miss me because I’m alive today, and where are you?” Fighting back tears, she admitted that while she has learned to accept this reality, it is a truth she has long hidden from the public.
Her emotional story has sparked a broader conversation about the often-overlooked challenges faced by stepchildren and the emotional toll of strained family dynamics.
