The Madlanga Commission has uncovered disturbing allegations regarding Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s involvement in the attempted assassination of his ex-girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane. On Thursday, October 30, 2025, Witness C resumed his testimony before the commission, revealing explosive details about Matlala’s alleged role in orchestrating the attack and the financial arrangements behind it.

Previously, Witness C had linked Cat to the disappearance of businessman Jerry Boshoga, but his latest testimony introduced further allegations, claiming that Cat paid R150,000 to have Thobejane murdered. According to Witness C, the payment was made in two installments into a business account belonging to Nthabiseng Nzama, the daughter of Cat’s co-accused Floyd Tiego Mahusela. The witness explained that R50,000 was deposited days before the crime on July 12, and an additional R100,000 was transferred the day after the attempted murder.

The commission also heard that Cat is now facing charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, alongside several co-accused individuals. These include Musa Kekana, Floyd Tiego Mahusela, Cat’s wife Tsakani Matlala, and Tiego’s daughter, Nthabiseng Nzama. Witness C described Cat as the hit orderer, explaining his alleged central role in planning the crime and coordinating payments.

The unsettling testimony has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with users expressing both shock and outrage. Many were appalled by the idea that someone would plot to take another person’s life for R150,000, while others questioned Cat’s motivations for targeting Tebogo Thobejane.

The revelations at the Madlanga Commission have shone a spotlight on the dark undercurrents of crime and conspiracy, leaving the public eager for justice and further answers in this high-profile case.
