The wait for Season 3 of The Bala Family has come to an end, but not in the way fans had hoped.

Zwaai Bala has finally addressed the long-awaited return of the popular reality show, revealing that a third season will not be happening in the near future.

In a statement shared with fans, Zwaai said the family had spent close to two years trying to make another season happen and had been ready to once again open up their lives, relationships, homes and music to viewers.

However, he made it clear that the decision not to proceed with Season 3 did not come from the Bala family.

“We were ready. The audience was ready. The decision wasn’t ours,” Zwaai said.

He acknowledged the family’s disappointment, explaining that The Bala Family had become much more than a television show for them.

“The Bala Family has never been just a television programme to us. It is our family, our history, our relationships, our music and our name,” he wrote.

Zwaai also acknowledged the continued demand from viewers, pointing to the messages, online conversations and packed venues as evidence of the audience’s ongoing connection to the family.

While the show became known for documenting the family’s relationships and disagreements, Zwaai said its heart had always been the family itself, including its generations of musical talent, laughter, healing and history.

He also apologised to fans for the lengthy wait, particularly where the family’s own hopes for a third season may have sounded like a promise.

“For now, we simply wanted you to hear the truth directly from us,” he said, before thanking viewers for continuing to support the family and wait for the show’s return.
