5 things you did not know about TV personality Salamina Mosese

Salamina Mosese is a familiar face to many South Africans, but there’s more to the beloved TV personality than meets the eye.

From a shy teenager to a respected actress and producer, her journey has been shaped by unexpected opportunities, strong family values, and a deep sense of purpose.

Here are a few things you may not know about Salamina Mosese. Soul Buddyz was a big breakthrough for you. Please tell us what your role meant to you.

Zandi was a young Pedi girl with big dreams and good friends. In so many ways, she was just like me. I was a very shy teenager when I got the role on Soul Buddyz. It pushed me to be more assertive and outgoing. Everywhere I went once the show started airing, I had to interact with people and come out of my shell.

When did you start feeling the call to be in the industry?

The industry kind of chose me. When I was in Grade 3, a teacher suggested a back-to-school campaign. That’s how I started as a child model. A few years later, at my brother’s audition for Soul Buddyz, the director suggested that I try out even though I wasn’t there to audition.

A few months later, I was selected and that’s how my acting career started.

Your humility is evident in how you present yourself and your work. What do you attribute it to?

Thanks. My parents raised us to always respect everyone, and this has never changed for me. My dad always emphasised that listening to others is better than being the loudest person in the room you learn more that way.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My mom. She is quietly confident and a hard worker. She recently retired after being a social worker for the past 40 years. We’ve met many people who have stopped us to share how much my mom helped or blessed them.

What is the legacy you wish to leave behind for your family and children? I hope they remember me as someone who encouraged them lovingly and inspired them to be their best selves.
