UFH Strike Goes from bad to worse: School Buildings Burning down
What seemed to be a peaceful strike turned into a nightmare at the University of Fort Hare Alice Campus.
UFH students recently had a shutdown on both their campuses, Alice and East London. The shutdown was to request the University’s VC, Prof Sakhela Buhlungu to step down.
This comes after numerous attempts to stand with the students that have not received their allowances and for the recent deaths that happened in the Alice campus with no one to answer for them.
The strike went from bad to worse when the authorities took some students into custody. As the fight to get them back, videos of school buildings burning down in the Alice campus circulated the social media.
One of the building that was burnt down was the Admin, this caused a stir in the socials with the University’s Alumnus raising their frustrations on how wrong burning the school’s most important building. Meanwhile, students claim that they are not the ones burning down the buildings, someone else is.
Students have shave countless videos showing evidence of bomb-like fireworks coming from the sky and hitting the school premises. They have also shared that they have been asked to evict the University as soon as possible.
Speaking to one of the students, she shared that they have taken a decision to not evict the premises until VC steps down. “We still stand, VC must go! Qina mfundi,” she added.
There is no ordinary student with equipment to shoot fire balls in the sky and burn down an entire Admin Building.
The destruction at the University of Fort Hare will cost BILLIONS. The arrogance of Management has allowed third forces to drive anarchy.
