Lasizwe Dambuza Opens Up About Rift with Brother Lungile Mcunu

Last Updated: October 15, 2025By

Reality TV star and YouTuber Lasizwe Dambuza has candidly addressed the fallout with his older brother, Lungile Mcunu.

Known for their comedic bond and collaborations, such as their Valentine’s Day YouTube specials, the siblings are no longer on speaking terms. Lasizwe surprised fans by revealing the reasons behind their estrangement after MDN News shared leaked screenshots from his Instagram Close Friends.

Responding to the rumours on X (formerly Twitter) on October 14, 2025, Lasizwe expressed frustration over the invasion of his private moments. “My close friends weren’t meant for headlines. It was a moment between me and the people I trust, but ke. I’m not angry, just tired. Like this year, it was uDominic ngapha. Now it’s these rumours?” he wrote.

He further admitted to feeling emotionally drained, saying, “I prayed for peace but didn’t know it came with distance. I’m exhausted. But I’m still here. 2025? My babe, kanti yini?”

The rift has been linked to a viral claim alleging that Lungile demanded R1 million to appear on Lasizwe’s hit YouTube series Awkward Dates, which reportedly generated significant revenue. However, Lasizwe has since clarified that the fallout has nothing to do with money but instead stems from differences in personal choices and family expectations. He shared that his decision to distance himself from the family taxi business, a legacy Lungile is deeply invested in, has caused tension between them.

Despite the public speculation, Lasizwe emphasised his focus on career growth and personal peace. While fans are hopeful for reconciliation, he appears resolute in putting his well-being first, even if it means maintaining distance from family matters.
