Pearl Thusi Returns to TV With New Travel Hosting Gig
Pearl Thusi is adding another television project to her growing list of credits, this time taking viewers on a journey across South Africa. The celebrated actress, media personality and entrepreneur is set to co-host Just Travel SA, a new tourism series that shines a spotlight on the country’s destinations, local cultures and travel experiences for different budgets.
The announcement comes as Pearl continues to expand her international portfolio. She recently joined the cast of the international series Average Joe. Her latest hosting role brings her back to local television, where she will be joined by television presenter and actor Lungile Radu.
The nine-part series will explore all nine provinces, uncovering remarkable destinations, hidden gems and experiences that South Africans can discover closer to home. Each 24-minute episode will see the hosts explore a province alongside a local insider, offering viewers a closer look at the people, places and attractions that make each destination unique.
Travel experiences will be divided into three spending categories: Smart Budget, costing up to R1,050 per day; Flexi Budget, costing up to R1,250 per day; and Luxury Budget, costing more than R1,250 per day. The format aims to show viewers that exploring South Africa can be accessible, regardless of their travel budget.
The series will feature local personalities who will help introduce viewers to their provinces, including Mapaseka Koetle in the Free State, Clement Maosa in Limpopo and Sweet Guluva in KwaZulu-Natal.
Reflecting on her experience filming the show, Pearl highlighted how much of the country remains unexplored by its own people.
“I think we underestimate what we have in South Africa. What surprised me was just how much you can experience locally, and how affordable it can be. People travel from all over the world to experience this country, yet there is still so much of it that we as South Africans haven’t seen ourselves,” she said.
With its focus on local discovery and travel options for different budgets, Just Travel SA encourages South Africans to explore the beauty and diversity of their own country. Its message is simple: whatever your budget, wherever you are, just travel.
Just Travel SA premieres on SABC 1 on Monday, 26 October 2026, at 18:00.
