Springboks unveil striking new jersey ahead of historic All Blacks rivalry series
The Springboks have revealed a bold new limited-edition ahead of the highly anticipated Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series against New Zealand.
Unveiled by SA Rugby and Nike on Wednesday, the special jersey will be worn during the four-Test series against the All Blacks, with the design paying tribute to South Africa’s heritage while embracing the next chapter of Springbok rugby.
Unlike previous editions, this jersey carries a powerful hidden message. A subtle tone-on-tone graphic features the lyrics of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika arranged in the shape of the South African flag, symbolising the unity of the country’s diverse cultures and languages. The words in all five languages – Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Afrikaans, and English – will be carried on the team’s chests as they represent the convergence of South Africa’s diverse voices, histories, and communities.
Beyond its appearance, the jersey has been engineered for elite performance using Nike FIT ADV technology, featuring lightweight materials and an athletic fit designed to meet the demands of the modern game.
“This truly is a tour like no other and so is this jersey,” said Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby.
“Nike have outdone themselves in developing a design that speaks directly and honestly to the motivation of the team and management – they play for the people of South Africa and wear their hearts on their sleeve; now they will wear the words of the anthem on their chests.”

The unveiling comes as anticipation builds for Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, a landmark tour that revives the traditional Springboks-All Blacks format with four Test matches, alongside provincial fixtures that celebrate one of world rugby’s fiercest rivalries.
The jersey is on sale at Nike stores and Nike.com, at Springbok retail stores in Sandton, Menlyn Park and Canal Walk.
Fans hoping to own the new jersey will need to dig deep into their pockets, with the limited-edition release carrying a premium price tag and expected to be one of the most sought-after Springbok jerseys in recent years.
The new kit has already sparked excitement across social media, with many supporters praising its meaningful symbolism and elegant design, while others have welcomed the return of a jersey that celebrates both South African identity and Springbok tradition.
