How Creme of Nature Is Reframing Textured Hair with ‘Unstoppable Hair’
For generations of Black women, hair has been more than a beauty ritual. It has been part of girlhood, identity, self-expression and the ways women learn to see themselves.
Creme of Nature explores that relationship in its latest campaign, “Unstoppable Hair”, a celebration of textured hair and the transformative power it holds for Black and Brown women.
Launched in South Africa on 29 May 2026, the campaign builds on the brand’s “Rooted in Radiance” foundation, shifting the focus from simply celebrating African hair to exploring what it enables women to become.
At the heart of the campaign is a simple idea: Black women are born with a superpower – their hair.
Led by South African actress and local brand ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha, “Unstoppable Hair” brings that idea to life through a cinematic visual story centred on the intimate ritual of getting ready. In moments of reflection, styling and transformation, hair becomes a tool for identity and self-expression.
“For me, this campaign is deeply personal. Our hair has always been a cool superpower anchoring most of our identities,” Mbatha says.
She describes the campaign as an invitation for women to own that power both privately and publicly, from the quiet rituals of getting ready to the moments when they step into the spotlight.
“We get to be whoever we want to at any given time, before the world tells us who we are,” she says. “Unstoppable is collective and shared within our community – I hope South African women see themselves in this story.”
That sense of community is also reflected in the campaign’s focus on the rituals passed down through generations. The experience of sitting between a mother’s or grandmother’s hands while learning to care for your hair becomes part of a larger story about learning to care for yourself.
“There’s a quiet power in the rituals we’ve inherited,” Mbatha says. “This campaign celebrates those moments, and reminds women that what makes us different is exactly what makes us unstoppable.”
Visually, the campaign draws on an African avant-garde aesthetic, bringing together bold colour, texture and form while keeping hair at the centre of the frame. Sculptural and expressive hairstyles become both crown and canvas.
The visual identity also reflects Creme of Nature’s connection to Africa and its Moroccan heritage through its use of 100% argan oil from Morocco as a key natural ingredient.
Fashion plays an important role in the campaign, with Creme of Nature collaborating with R’Frique as its official fashion partner. The platform champions African designers and contemporary African fashion, adding another layer of culture, identity and style to the campaign.
For Zandi Zinganto, Brand Manager for Creme of Nature South Africa, the campaign is ultimately about creating a deeper connection between women and the brand.
“Unstoppable Hair” is a campaign about self-congruity; being a mirror to the women we stand for – whose image matches who we see ourselves as,” she says.
Zinganto says today’s South African consumer is looking beyond product performance and increasingly seeking brands that connect with their identity and the people they want to become.
That is the space Creme of Nature hopes “Unstoppable Hair” occupies: not simply a campaign about hair, but a story about identity, possibility and the many versions of yourself that textured hair can help you express.
At a time when beauty is increasingly tied to culture and self-expression, the campaign positions textured hair as more than something to be styled. It becomes a source of confidence, transformation and shared identity – a superpower that Black and Brown women carry with them.
