Kayise Ngqula’s After Dark Makes TV Debut on SABC

Kayise Ngqula is celebrating another major career milestone as her conversational series, After Dark with Kayise, makes its highly anticipated television debut.

The TV host, actress and media entrepreneur took to social media on Thursday, 17 September 2026, to announce that the series is now streaming on SABC Plus, marking a significant moment for a project that was born from one of the darkest chapters of her life.

Sharing the news with her followers, Kayise reflected on how far the platform has come and the personal journey that inspired it.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it,” she wrote, quoting Psalm 118:24.

Kayise revealed that six years ago, she made the decision to speak publicly about her loss, never imagining that sharing her experience would eventually lead to the creation of a platform that would become her own intellectual property and be licensed by the national broadcaster.

“Only God could have written this story,” she said.

After Dark with Kayise was inspired by Matthew 5:13–16, which speaks about being the salt of the earth and the light of the world. According to Kayise, the series was created around her belief that bringing difficult truths into the light can create space for understanding, healing and transformation.

The series arrives at a time when South Africa continues to grapple with a number of difficult social issues, something Kayise also acknowledged in her announcement.

“South Africa is living through a difficult time. But history reminds us that honest conversation and courageous storytelling can help move a nation forward. Every generation must create the platforms its moment requires,” she wrote.

For Kayise, After Dark with Kayise is about more than entertainment. She sees the platform as a space for meaningful conversations about the country’s experiences, challenges and the work that still needs to be done.

“I believe @afterdark_withkayise has been entrusted to me for such a time as this, not merely to entertain, but to illuminate. To help us speak honestly about who we are, what we have endured and what we must heal, challenge and rebuild,” she said.

The media personality also took a moment to honour her younger self, reflecting on the woman she was six years ago when she first found the courage to speak publicly about her loss. “Today, I honour the woman I was six years ago. She did not know that her courage to speak was laying the foundation for this moment,” she wrote.

Kayise also expressed gratitude to everyone who trusted her with their stories and contributed to building the platform, while giving credit to God for turning what she described as her “darkest night” into a source of light.

After Dark with Kayise began streaming on SABC Plus from 12 noon on 17 September. The series was created by Kayise and is owned by KNN Media Group and KNN Network. “This is purpose. This is legacy. This is answered prayer. And this is only the beginning,” Kayise said.
