Tyla Brings A*POP World Tour Home With South Africa as Only African Stop

Last Updated: September 20, 2026By

Tyla is bringing her highly anticipated A*POP World Tour home to South Africa, with the global superstar set to close out her international run with performances in Cape Town and Johannesburg in January 2027.

The Grammy-winning singer will kick off the tour in Paris on 12 October 2026 before travelling across Europe and the United Kingdom, followed by a major North American leg. The tour will include stops in cities such as Amsterdam, London, Manchester, Berlin, Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Tyla will perform at Green Point Track in Cape Town on 4 January 2027 before heading to Johannesburg for the final show of the tour at the Expo Centre, Nasrec, on 9 January. The South African dates will mark the culmination of her first full headline world tour, giving local fans the chance to see her perform songs from her second studio album, APOP*.

Released on 24 July, APOP* features 14 tracks, including “Chanel”, “Is It Love”, “HOT TUBS” and “She Did It Again”, with collaborations including Zara Larsson, Babalwa M and MaWhoo. The project follows the global success of her self-titled debut album and her breakthrough single “Water”, which earned her the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance.

The A*POP World Tour was initially announced as a 34-date global run, with the itinerary spanning Europe, the UK, North America and Africa. The original African leg included a scheduled performance in Lagos, Nigeria, on 22 December 2026, ahead of the two South African shows.

However, the Lagos date was subsequently removed from the tour’s published itinerary following calls from some Nigerians to boycott the concert. The backlash was linked to anger over anti-immigrant and xenophobic attacks in South Africa, with some Nigerian commentators questioning the decision to hold the concert while tensions between the two countries remained high.

Neither Tyla nor her management has publicly explained why the Lagos date was removed. Reports have therefore stopped short of confirming whether the concert was cancelled, postponed or otherwise withdrawn from the schedule.

With Lagos no longer listed, Tyla’s South African performances currently stand as the remaining African dates on the tour. The Cape Town show is set for Green Point Track, while Johannesburg will host the final performance of the global run at the Expo Centre in Nasrec.

The homecoming comes at a significant point in Tyla’s career. Since breaking through internationally with “Water”, the Johannesburg-born star has continued to build a global audience while bringing South African sounds, particularly amapiano, into mainstream pop spaces.

The A*POP World Tour will give fans across multiple continents an opportunity to experience her latest material live, before Tyla returns to the country where her journey began.

For South African fans, the January dates are set to be particularly significant, with Cape Town hosting the first local show on 4 January before Tyla heads to Johannesburg for the tour’s final night on 9 January 2027.
